It was WAY WAY to hot to have the pups outside for any length of time today. So I put them in the kitchen of the new house to play and wear themselves out.

Not the greatest photos of them ... but they are all posted on the Plum Ridge Training Centre Facebook page. (There is a link on the badge to the right).

Ok I will apologize for being really "Bad" about getting photos and updates posted to the blog. Life is VERY busy (outside of the dogs too... house building going well but slower than I want). So trying to keep all areas updated has been hard.

Dora BABIES!!

Back in March when I delivered "Gem" down to Chris's to repeat the litter that created Mollie and Ruby. Dora (Imp. Ellie x WTCH Kane) was in heat as well. Knowing that Gem had only a small litter that last time, I felt it would not be hard to have the two litters at the same time, SO Dora went along too!!

Tag is the sire (you can scroll to other posts about how well he has done USBCHA Open).

Dora was bred here at Plum Ridge, she is out of one of my blue import girl "Ellie" and Kane (my best buddy and an awesome worker).

We expected a larger litter, but are grateful for what we have. The litter was born at Chris's home but is now here at PlumRidge.

There is only one boy, and surprisingly enough he is BLUE!!

There are two black and white girls.

Chris and I are both excited to see these pups mature. One pup is already spoken for (it's headed to live with Chris and daddy "Tag").

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!

In honor of our "Mothers" for Mother's Day, many of my Facebook friends were putting photos of themselves with their Mothers. I did the same and put up a more recent photo of my Mother and I at a business convention not so many years ago.
Since I have been very bad about updating the blog, I thought I would dig out this old photo of my Mother (standing behind me) along with myself handling her dog "Jay Jay".

My Mother has always been a Schnauzer lover. (I grew up in a house and farm full of Mini Schnauzers). However when I began handling professionally, she decided to get involved, by purchasing herself a Standard Schnauzer for herself (that I could handle for her).

This photo was taken when Jay was just barely 6 mos old. It was his VERY first show ever, and it was the National Specialty. To put it mildly the boy CLEANED UP!!

I still remember after all the other handlers congratulated me, and my mom was holding her pile of 'loot" she has won as prizes (Nationals always do give neat stuff away). She commented to me " Do you think we can get a photo of this?"

Yeah Mom we ARE getting a photo of this!!

Jay Jay went on to be a VERY successful showdog, and even was campaigned to be the #1 black Std. Schnauzer the year he was campagined. But the thing he did that by far was MORE successful, was he was my Mother's best buddy. He rode EVERYWHERE with her, he went to her retail shop, he slept on her bed, he was her 'service' dog. He was just IT ALL!!

Jay Jay has sadly passed some years ago, and he is still missed and talked about often!!

So this post is a HAPPY belated MOTHER'S Day to ALL!!

I am VERY excited to annouce the repeat breeding of Gem to Tag!!!! I bred Gem myself. She is the daughter of two of my personal favorite dogs. She is out of Imp. Risp (who passed away last summer) and Imp. Meg. That makes her a grand daughter to Serge van der Sweep's big winning World Trials placing dog "Glen" Tag is owned by Chris Chambers. He is from Vergil Holland's breeding (the second crosses of Hemp x Lass). Tag himself is an USBCHA Open Trial winner, and he qualified and ran in the USBCHA Finals. The two daughters from the first breeding are:

Mollie

Mollie herself is an USBCHA Open Trials winner (she usually beat her own father to do it), She won over a dozen USBCHA Nursery Classes, (obviously qualifying for the USBCHA Nursery Finals). She qualified and ran at the USBCHA Finals in both Open and Nursery. As a two year old she was one of the qualifiers for the Double Lift Finals at the prestigious Bluegrass Sheepdog Trials too. Mollie is a loving and sweet house dog for her owner Chris Chambers as well.

Ruby

Ruby is the 'other' sister. She is owned by myself but is trained and lives with Chris Chambers. She showed a VERY keen interest in stock at an early age and has never stopped since (literally!). Ruby is currently running Open Ranch with Chris (only two dogs can run Open and sister Mollie and father Tag have those two slots).

The first litter was only three pups (the third pup is in a loving family with Chris's parents). So the reservation list for this litter will be limited to working and trial homes only. Feel free to drop me a message or call and I will be happy to discuss the litter with you!!

Pups will be due very late May early June. (perfect timing for USBCHA nursery puppies!!)

Another Kane

Nap is a Kane son from the Imported Cloud breeding. I named him because I always bet he was going to be the 'sleeper' of the group that would just surprise the heck out of all of us.

Nap is so much like his father ... I have accidentally put him away in his father's kennel more times than one. I have almost placed him a few times ... and something happens (never his fault) and he does not leave. I guess I do believe that saying "All things happen for a reason".

Since I am not as good at all the agility letters... I asked Stacie to type me up what all she and Revy did this weekend. This is what I got:

PlumRidge All Reved Up RE CD PT NA NAJ

Earned 1st place (a PERFECT score) in Open Standard Agility, and 3rd place (perfect score beat by time) in Open Jumpers with weaves on Saturday. Sunday once again Revy earned FIRST PLACE (perfect score AGAIN!) in Open Standard Agility, (unfortunately we NQ'd in JWW's).

I am so proud of you two!! You are AWESOME!!

LOTS OF IT!!

But it's OK, this year I don't mind as much as I have in years past.

For those that read Facebook, you know, for those that don't... I am trying to build new home at the farm. I didn't get the foundation put in prior to the cold weather so now, I am waiting for warm and dry weather! Mud is better than snow because it means the snow melted and we are one step closer to my new foundation!!

Last weekend was the four day dog show series in Indianapolis (Indy Winter Classic). Plum Ridge puppy owners worked VERY hard training prior to the show and came out with NEW TITLES!!!

Tiger is a Sydney x Ch. Coree puppy owned by Janet Shepherd. To brag even MORE, he finished his title on Saturday, so she moved him up to Rally Advanced on Sunday and he got a LEG toward his Advanced title the next day!

Winter Outfits

When it comes to trials and shows ... I love to think in the purple mode and be dressed in the kennel's 'signature' color. It's usually not hard since I shop buy the clearance purple, or sew outfits when I can.

Since we are just digging out from another winter storm here in Indiana, I thought you all would like to know that the color is out the window!! WARMTH AND LAYERS ARE THE NAME OF THE GAME!!

For the past few cold months I honestly could care less if it matches, or if the colors clash... not anywhere on my mind!! WARMTH WARMTH yeah that's what I want!!

To go out and run the dogs my attire is:

On the bottom:
Three to four pairs of socks (at least one wool, one thinsulate, and then my regular cotton ones)
FOUR (yep you read that right FOUR) pairs of thermal underware on the bottom
Thinsulate lined jeans (no not flannel, not fleece, QUILTED Thinsulate lined)
Sorel Winter snow boots (these do get changed out for waterproof hunting boots when the snow is not so deep)

On the top:

Two Thermal tops,
Two thick cotton long sleeve shirts
One Hooded sweatshirt (thanks XP Ranch I am so glad I bought these at your clinics!!)
My hooded Carhart Jacket. (I have two of these one is rated the lowest of cold temps... so I watch the weather before I go out to know which one to grab).

Plus OF COURSE
I have multiple pairs of fleece gloves (extras in the pockets at all times) so when one pair gets wet, a new goes on. (breaking ice in buckets, filling buckets, and throwing slimy balls gets those gloves wet fast).

I also have a comfy fleece collar I slide around my neck after I pull up my hooded sweathshirt. Keeps the neck all toasty warm and I can pull it up over my mouth and nose if the wind really picks up.

Now I wish I could say there is a photo of me all dressed up like a marshmellow.. but sadly "NO" there is no photo. The dogs thankfully have not mastered the camera yet (the blackmail photos I am sure they would have LOL) and no one else seems to want to brave the wind and run them with me!!

So I will leave you with the dogs enjoying their 'purple' jollyball in the snow. (Yeah it was taken in a previous snowstorm .. the camera is not liking this wind, ice, snow and cold so no great photos were take in this last snowstorm).

A little comment line got going on Facebook today about the genetics of some of the little things our dogs do. Kane's kids and grandkids were the topic. I then went and looked at a few photos and of course ran across a photo of Terry Parrish's Rhys (Kane's grandfather on his sire's side and his greatgrandfather on his dam's side - he is double bred on him).

Yep! Kane reminds me of Rhys. That is something I am very proud to own!!

Kane is my boy ... I adore him greatly, he has taught me a great deal on the trial field, and just about life overall.

(for those wondering the Chihuahuas are from left to right "Nessie" one of my hand raised orphans, "Ren" a silly male I am trying to show, and "Chewee" the old man that is a rescue.)

Yesterday at the USASA Specialty Ike went Winner's Dogs under judge Linda Robey for a FIVE Point major to finish his AKC Championship!!

Ike is owned by Stacie Coates (I just co-own him). He was handled by Heather Blackford (THANK YOU !!).

Yesterday was a very sad day here

I am exhausted and hurting way too much to write all of what this tremendous wonderful dog has done for me. I will try to later... but for now I will post just a few of the photos I have of my beloved Risp. (he is also the dog in the top photo of this blog).

He passed away yesterday. He lived a very good long life, taught me more about working cattle than I ever thought a dog could. He worked anything and everything I ever asked him to (and did it with "STYLE"). He made me friends all over the WORLD... and I will be forever grateful for the few kids (and outstanding grandkids too) he has left behind.

He was an UK import, He had the fancy import papers and import name, He had plenty of titles (ASCA WTCH, USBCHA Open Level winner, AKC Advanced titles you name it ... )but to me he was just my 'Ispers"

He was a silly friendly boy when he was not working livestock.

But he certainly was 'always' looking to work livestock

One of my favorite photos of him. He had that creepy low to the ground style everyone loved to see and I always got comments about it when we came off the field.

I was always amazed by how fast he could move that 'low' to the ground.

A few called him a "spider" he was so creepy and stylish on stock.

One can't forget those 'trademark' areodynamic ears of his!!! (and no I never did anything to them ... his ears did that all on their own!!)

He would hold a single and taught me a great deal about shedding too!!

He was buried under the tree at the farm with one of his many High in Trial Ribbons. Probably earned it on ducks ... as he was a master at keeping even fast quick ducks together!!

He would walk up on cattle so patient and quiet. Giving them every chance possible to turn and move. If they would not ... he fairly and accurately nailed them on the nose and informed them they needed to move. He knew when to bite and when to just give them time... it always amazed me how much he knew.

He was always the fun clinic dog... as I learned and he patiently taught me ... waiting till I got it.

He just 'knew' how to put livestock thru the panels or into pens... he truly understood his job.

He won me lots of prizes (including prize money!!), he made me friends all across the country and world. He would have done it for no prizes, no audience, just to make me happy.

Rest Well Old Man ... thank you for being part of my life!!!

His granddaughter is Chris Chambers "Mollie". She was 3rd in Nursey and 13th in Open at the Canadian National Sheepdog finals just recently. She will be running both Nursery and Open in the USBCHA finals starting this coming weekend. I am sure grandpa "Risp" will be smiling down on the sheep field in VA saying "Go Mollie!!!"

Another great tribute to those on four legs that did so much that day!!

I am so thrilled to see that Chris and Mollie did so well at the Finals up in Canada!! (Click on Post Title above for link to the full results. )

Mollie is a pup from my homebred female "Gem" (Imp. Meg x Imp. Risp) and Chris's male "Tag".

Chris and Mollie have a relationship that one can hardly describe ... on and off the field it is a joy to see the two together. (Mollie is a spoiled house dog!!)

Mollie is just over two years old and seems to mature and get better at every trial!! She is "over" qualified for the USBCHA National Nursery Finals (she has a dozen Nursery wins at least)... and she is also qualified in Open at the National Finals this year too!!

Some that read this blog regularly might remember she was the 'baby' that made the double lift finals at the Bluegrass this year too!!

I should also mention that Mollie's daddy "Tag" ran VERY VERY well at the Canadian National finals making the Double lift (knocking Mollie out of the top twelve). Tag finished 5th overall in the Open Finals!!

I am so proud!!!

Slick is out of the CueB x Fog litter. He is a driven yet cuddly puppy. You pick him up and he melts and cuddles... but pull out a ball or the hose (see previous video) and you have a driven intense dog!!

The pups had a busy week this past week. I made a trip to the UKC Premier show in Richmond, IN (that was a hot one as my AC was not working in the van!). I also took the 'crew' to a friend's sheep farm near Indianapolis.

While at the sheep farm, the pups ran with all the adults. It was a wonderful thing for them to learn to respect their elders (including Grandpa Kane who is in the photo above with some of the pups).

They had a great time and slept soundly all the way home!!

I was lucky enough to get to watch one of Cloud and Kane's daughters over the weekend!!

Kane and Cloud were more than happy to open up and welcome back their lovely daughter Bono!!

She was the pup I was SO tempted to keep when she was little!! But a lovely family stepped up and wanted a girl. Bono was a perfect fit for their home.

It was great to see her show 'flashes' of both her hard working parents.

Bono was a joy to puppy sit thru the weekend!!

Of course I had to have a 'family' photo before she went back home!!

It was two years ago today that these wonderful babies were born!! Spirit was accidentally bred (someone - not me let her out with Bill) and it was not something I was happy about!! Then her labor was certainly NOT an easy one!! Twenty two hours later her last two puppies were born at the vet's office (one naturally and the last by c-section).

Then DNA confirmed Bill's 'deed' LOL.

Needless to say these three darling babies are doing great ... all the effort, and tears over this litter was well worth it!! And their loving homes are grateful they are around too!!

I had a very VERY busy fun filled Memorial Day weekend!! I got to spend Saturday doing family things (a wonderful visit with my nephew).

HOWEVER my Monday was a great day!! It started at 3am and didn't end till 2am .... but that lack of sleep was certainly worth it!!!

I spent the day at the Kevin Evans clinic!! Monday was the advanced handling/judging day (shedding, look backs, etc...). So since I have none of my advanced dogs in working shape, I chose to just 'audit' for the day. It turned out to be wonderful weather, and wonderful people were there with their dogs. I learned a great deal by just getting to watch and listen.

Since I am the proud owner of "Evan" I just could NOT pass up the photo opportunity this clinic presented.

Evan is young boy, who's daddy is Kevin's International Supreme Champion Winner ## Mirk!!

Yep Evan got to have his picture taken with his name sake!!

Hero is the boy that came from Germany. He is a Slick (Isis x Tanner daughter) x Gibson son.

I am not sure why he feels the need to 'perch' on the edge of the kiddy pool with his back feet, as he already has gotten his front feet wet by standing in the pool... but he does!! (maybe he is trying that two on two off agility move!!).

Tiger is from the Ch. Coree x Sydney litter. He is owned (co-owned by me), loved, and handled by Janet Shepherd. I can honestly say I don't know of a more 'spoiled' dog that Tiger. BUT Tiger doesn't take advantage of it like he could!!

I got the message earlier today, to say that Tiger earned another point while showing at the Kokomo shows today.

YEAH for Janet & Tiger... sorry I was not there to see it.

Exciting news from the Bluegrass!!

The only thing left is the double lift finals tomorrow.

Things didn't go as I had planned (pups too much to leave behind) so I was unable to travel down to KY and watch the trial.

HOWEVER!!

Dogs related to mine did very well!!

Chris Chambers is running two bitches that are out of Gem (Imp. Risp x Imp. Meg) and his male Tag. "Molly" is running Open (at the young age of two years old) and she MADE THE DOUBLE LIFT FINALS!!!

Ruby is the other sister .... she has been maturing slower but is running very well in Open Ranch. Chris retired her on a few of her runs to make sure she ended on a good note but she did some very nice things in all her runs!!

Alison Dodd ran Trip in Pro Novice and did very well too. Trip is a Imp. Risp son.

I wish I was able to attend the trial .... oh well, I am still crossing my fingers for Molly from home!!

I brought the little guys out to my photo backdrop area (OK it's a fleece blanket laid on the couch) in a cardboard box. It seemed that box made for some cute photos as the pups seemed to play in there ... then go RIGHT to sleep - and I mean dead to the world asleep!!

Here are some photos of the CueB x Fog puppies at a week old.

Part of why these photos are late in being posted, is that we have been busy fighting hard to make sure a few of the smaller ones were thriving. With a litter this size (and a new Momma) it is always a concern that all pups grown and thrive. Sadly one of the slate merle girls failed to grow and thrive. Despite our round the clock efforts (vet calls, SQ fluids, additional feedings, antibiotics just in case etc... etc...) she ended up to not be a viable puppy and passed away.

This is a breeding I have wanted and planned for a long time. After importing Ellie in and beginning to work her on stock, I knew that someday I would want to cross her children to a Imp. Cloud offspring. (Both bitches go back to similar lines that I like a great deal).

This good sized litter of pups were delivered with little to no help from me by "CueB" (she is pictured on the right of the blog). The proud father is "Fog" (also pictured to the right on the blog).

Inhale deeply there will be lots of puppy breath!!! This photo was taken shortly after they were delivered and dried. Sadly we did loose the smallest black and white boy. Leaving us with a wonderful litter of EIGHT puppies!!

The count is: BOYS: Two black and white males, Two black tri males (one has very little white like grandma Cloud and daddy Fog), one slate blue boy (he too has little white). GIRLS: One black tri girl (almost no white on her) and two Slate merle girls.

Yep that's right!! The two slate (merle) girls do have darker slate spots on them ... which clearly answers the question that Fog is a merle since he now has produced two merle offspring!!

Don't worry there will be lots more photos to come!! They are already a week old (yeah yeah I know I needed to get the photos up faster ... but had a busy week!!). I do have week old photos taken already and I will post them soon I PROMISE!!

Tiger is one of the Sydney x Ch. Coree puppies!! He is owned by a great lady that works hard with him in so many venues (she shows him conformation, does rally and even has taken him tracking!!).

His debut in the Rally Obedience ring was this past Feb. at the Indy Winter Classic dog shows. Please excuse the poor quality video (it was done on my iPhone).

He got great scores and was so happy to work for his Mom!!

Well I was able to get photos of one of the 'new' additions!!

His call name in Germany was "Grizzly" ... but I have decided to register him as PlumRidge Sunnycreek Guitar Hero so I think a call name change will be in order (put your thinking caps on guys .... send me suggestions!!).

Sorry no I don't have photos!! (I even did take my camera to the airport!). But poor Mryjam and her friend were pretty worn down after the fiasco getting to Indiana.

The original plan was that the dogs would arrive late (11:30pm) on Wed. night .... YEAH that didn't happen!! They spent the night in the airport in Atlanta instead.

So after 500 miles of driving (I had to go back home once to handle Mishka and her diabetes) and a few texts changing the times and plans...

Tanner and his daughter and grandson are HERE!!

With all the rain and winds... I have not had a chance to get photos. They will be coming soon I promise!!!

Headed Home

Just over a year ago Carver came home from Germany. Along with him Myrjam brought two of his daughters. Betty was a pretty black tri who later went on to FL to live, and Shine stayed with me. Although Carver had sired many wonderful pups overseas I had not used him for stud here in the US prior to his trip to Germany. So Shine was my first offspring of this great boy "Carver". Needless to say we were quite excited to have little "Shine" here with us!

This was Mryjam with Carver and his two daughters!! (Talk about CUTE!!)

Well here is Shine and her 'old man' now....

Sadly (and not so sadly) Shine will soon part company with her father and head home to Germany. Shine's paperwork to get into the AKC turned into a nightmare that was not looking good. Shine's brother is doing fabulous in Europe showing ... and with that big FLUFFY tail of hers Shine will fight an uphill battle here in the showring. So we felt it was best for her to head home to her 'native' land of Germany!

I am going to miss the little "light" ... but in the end I know it is the best for both kennels. I had tears in my eyes as I gave her a bath to ready her for her trip!!

I had a very tough week this past week. For that reason I chose to stay home from the local ASCA show. (it was hard to stay home but I did).

Meanwhile, the PlumRidge Pooches (or those related to our guys) were out there doing great things!!!

At the UKC show in Michigan on Friday March 12th, "Ike" (Tailor x Tanner pup) took 1st in the Champions class at the first show and BEST OF BREED in the second show!

Above is a beautiful Carver son. This pup is from the Sunnycreek Aussies breeding of "Carver to Peach". He resides in Germany. He took a Reserve Winner's Dog over a large entry at an ASCA show in Germany!!

The passing of a great lady

The lady in this photo is Ida "Ree" Beckmann. (pictured here with four generations of dogs - many of which I own relatives of) She was the mother to my good friend Becky. I first met and spent time with her when I flew up to MN to pick up Kane and Ben. Her love for the dogs was so evident.

She passed away on March 2nd at the age of 81. She will be missed by so many!!

The dogs were thrilled when I came home with a new ball from the farm store!! (they didn't care that it was 'apple' scented... and really is labeled as a horse toy).
These balls are one of the favorite toys .... as they all can grab and tug on it.

Ben loves the balls.... he usually teaches the young dogs to chase them and bite them.

Ben will full mouth bite into them and leave plenty of teeth marks behind.

After the first day it already is showing plenty of "scars" from the day of play.

Ben is always sad when I toss it into a pen so he can't reach it. "REALLY Mom... I think you need to let it back out!!"

I have been wanting to take these photos for a long time (well since the birth of Miss's litter thus creating the four generations under one roof).Mishka is my beloved 'old lady' and so I felt it was only fitting that I get photos of them all together.

Needless to say this was the 'out take' that ended my attempt for the 'perfect photo'

... Grandma said she had taken 'enough' from the young whipper snappers poking at her!!

I got this great brag from Stacie on "Revy" (CH. Coree x Nala daughter) over the weekend.
Revy received her third leg on Saturday, Nov. 5 in East Lansing, MI. in Novice Obedience, and did so by taking first place. She now has her CD. She also had a qualifying score in Rally Excellent, for her second leg. She was also award high scoring aussie, and high scoring dog with a herding title!!
On Sunday, Revy once again took first place in Nocive obedience, but also took first place in Rally Excellent, which gave Revy her third leg,and new title of Rally Excellent! ( I didn't stay until the end of the trial to see if we were high scoring aussie again or high scoring herding tilted dog.)

We have been getting a great deal of rain here. I will admit, I am sick of the wet, icky, muddy weather. HOWEVER I am not ready for full blown winter (snow included) so I will take rain over snow at this point.

The dogs love the mud, they have no problem playing in the downpours they don't care!

So I figured since I can't get any 'cute' sunny pretty dog photos, I would roll with the rain clouds and show you all the wet mud kids!!

Mishka Update!!

I admit it!! I am a 'bad blogger'. Things are busy and so I have just not taken the time to upload photos like I should. I have gotten several messages asking how "Mishka" is ... so I thought I would take a bit of time this morning to post some recent photos of her.

She is perky and happy!!! Still doing all the extra time and work to blood test her muptiple times a day and giving insulin in various amounts (as appropriate by her test results). She is quite spoiled and wakes us up in the middle of the night to potty. But overall she is perky, happy and doing great (considering her age and diabeties).

These photos were taken of her recently when I took her along to the park with the Cloud puppies for a social outing.

Bunny stopped for a visit!!

Lately I have been working a number of weekends, which makes it hard to do as many clinics, and trials as I would like. This past Sunday (Nov. 1st) I was pleasantly rewarded at work by getting a visit from Bunny and her family.
Bunny is from the Ch. Player x Nala litter.

The "Special Treat" about this visit, is that I have not gotten to see Bunny (except in photos) since I delivered her to her new home when she was a wee little pupster!!

These photos of Bunny where taken on Nov. 1st. She turned SIX years old two days later! SO HAPPY BIRTHDAY BUNNY!! (and brothers Hef, Vegas and Colt).

As you can see Bunny, loves her life and is adored by her owners!!

At the last minute I was able to get "Evan" (you will formally meet him later ... he is a ## Mirk son) dressed for Halloween. He has such a silly personality that the costume was quite appropriate .... He's a CLOWN!!

Now Evan in his clown like antics, would not stay perched cute on the straw bales at work ... so yep I tied him to the bale!!

The remaining girl in Cloud's litter got to have a 'playdate' on Halloween! Lauren (the one on the left) and her cousin took "Sunny" (they named her for me) for the day. Lauren and her family own "Jake", he is a Isis x Tanner puppy who is now about 7 mos. old. Jake had a blast running Sunny around for the day and Sunny just had a blast sucking up to everyone!! The girls stopped by the store for a photo opt.

The girls were well decked out in their costumes, and that included "Sunny" in a bee costume!!

Poor Sunny was just exhausted after a long day of fun, she could barely keep her eyes open while sitting at the store.

In the spirit of Halloween, I thought I would post Mishka's old dress up demo. I have been a bit busy taking OTHER people's pets for Halloween so my guys have not been dressed up yet this year (I do say YET!!).
This was a demo I did with "Sheriff" Mishka herds the "Jailbirds" back to jail!!

These were taken a LONG time ago ... But Mishka would still 'try' to herd ducks dressed or not if I would let her.

Dinner Perks!!

I have had a few people ask me if I ever feed "raw" to the dogs. YEP WE DO!!

Normally I buy chicken parts once (or more) a week, to supplement their premium dry food. All my puppies are also introduced to raw before they go to their new homes as well. This is easy to get for me year round but the cost does add up. However, one of the great "perks" of living in the Midwest in the fall is DEER HUNTING SEASON!!

This year I have been happy to get fresh venison for the dog!! It's bow hunting season and we have yet to open the shotgun season ... so there should be plenty more to come!! Lots of deer and VERY inexpensive!!

Please excuse the photos ... I had loaned my good camera out when I got my first deer hindquarters so had to use an old one.
First night I got the parts home, Shine (Carver's daughter) was just thrilled to get a good nibble!!

Malone was more than willing to carry it away if I would have let him.

He was able to remove the fur and skin no problem.

Then Malone got smart, he held the leg down with his paw and just gnawed away.

Candy was more than happy to chew away at it too.

YUM!!!

Not much left when the dogs were done!!

This past Sunday the Cloud puppies went for an "outing". A good friend offered a "Herding Fun Day" at his farm. Chris's daughter Elizabeth had a great time occupying the pups!! She crawled right in to their ex-pen and rolled around in the grass with them!!

They just had a GREAT time with her. E also named all the pups for me too!!

Of course this is "Jag" he's my boy and E liked the name I had already chosen to him.

That's "Dot" (or Girl #3).

This guy (Boy #2) got the name "Tag" as his ears (one up and one down) matched her dog "Tag"

Spirit was having a great time with the Jolly Ball today. I got these two quick frames of her this afternoon.
She flips the ball up in the air all on her own.

She would occupy herself with a ball like this for hours if I would let her. (and yes you can see she is wet ... when she gets hot she takes the ball with her to the pool so she can cool off and I don't end the game by putting the ball away).

I got these photos awhile ago, but I've been so busy I just didn't get it uploaded.

This is "Rocky" (isn't he cute!!!). Rocky is from the litter of Sydney and CH. Coree. As you can see he loves his buddy the cat. (His owners assure me that he and the cat get along great!!)

I love getting photos like these!!

Signs of Fall (already??)

Well I knew it was coming, but I just didn't think it was coming SO FAST!! Fall, Yep it's here. I came home from errands on Monday to find the fields corn around the house GONE!! All harvested, the fields empty.... which is a good thing (more room for the dogs to run) and bad (the dust from the road floats up closer to the house. Here you can even see one of the trees along the edge of the field is already changing colors!

I mentioned the 'good' ... yep the dogs love the space again (more room to throw a ball!).

And of course Imp. Meg has brought one along in our walk thru the field!! (who would have thought she might forget!!)

(oh don't worry Mom.... I'm right behind you .... and YEAH I got the ball!!)

Candy is sure to keep up but not overly excited about the corn stalks left behind.

Candy's son "Crow" just makes a very pretty picture standing in the empty rows of corn.

Brother Hershey (you sure can see Candy in him!!) enjoys the romp.

Nel loves the space and covers the open ground no problem.

Gee Nel, Why is your tongue so LONG?? (could it be from running like a maniac?? nah that's not it!!)

Zeke plays hide and seek....

Rigel enjoys the obstacles of corn harvested rows....

Even old Carver seems happy to be out romping in the space.

Gayle came along too... (she is often lazy and stays napping on the step).

Even the OLD MAN Eddee played keep away with one of the pups. At well over 10 he is showing his grey... but still loves a good game of ball!!

Life of the farm... sigh.... Life is good :-)
